Abstract

1451914 Moulding reinforced concrete elements E WENNSTROM 26 Sept 1973 45177/73 Heading B5A [Also in Divisions E1 and E2] A building element comprising a relatively thin layer 5 of reinforced concrete and a number of prefabricated transversely extending joists 7 fixed to the concrete by projections secured in the joists and embedded in the concrete is formed by arranging in a mould 1, which may have removable sides 3, a mesh 4 of reinforcement, embedding the mesh in a thin layer of concrete 5 and then pressing into the wet concrete substantially U-shaped securing members 8 previously secured in prefabricated joists 7 so that they are surrounded by the concrete. The prefabricated joists may be of wood, reinforced concrete or lightweight concrete and the rods forming the mesh may be welded together. The elements may be used to form walls or floors and may be secured together by nailing or screwing into the wooden joists, or screwing into sockets embedded in concrete joists.
