Abstract
Magnetic cores built up of several parts or formed by winding an iron band or wire into a spiral are heat treated after formation but before insulation, and then insulated by treatment with a solution of phosphoric acid, which may contain a small amount of manganese dioxide, or with tungsten or molybdenum metaphosphate. In order to allow the solution to penetrate between the portions of the core they may be separated by a porous powder or covered with a material such as starch, paste-or paper which is destroyed by the heat treat, ment or the core may be treated in vacuo.
