Abstract
Diazo-dyes of the type:--an aniline or naphthylamine or a substitution product thereof (excepting nitro, sulphonic, and carboxylic derivatives) --> a 2 : 5-dialkoxyaniline --> (acid) 1 : 5-aminonaphthol are described. They dye cellulose esters and ethers in clear violet to blue to black shades and are preferably applied as described in Specification 224,077, [Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], e.g. by using the condensation product from naphthalene sulphonic acid and formaldehyde as dispersing agent. Specified first components are o-, m-, and p-chloraniline, p-phenetidine, o-anisidine, cresidine, o- and m-toluidine, a - and b -naphthylamine, m- and p-aminobenzene sulphonamide, and p-aminodimethylbenzamide; suitable middle components are 2 : 5-dimethoxy- and diethoxyaniline. Examples are given. Specification 298,993, [Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], is disclaimed.
