Abstract

314,651. Imperial Chemical Industries, Ltd., and Speight, E. A. May 30, 1928. Disazo dyes. - Black or blackish shades are produced on cellulose ester or ether materials by the application of secondary disazo dyes of the type A # B # C, in which A represents aniline or its homologues or halogen derivatives thereof, B represents 1-naphthylamine or its 6- or 7-sulphonic acid. and C represents 1 : 5- naphthylenediamine or 1 : 5-aminonaphthol, the latter being coupled acid. When A is a halogen derivative, C is preferably 1 : 5-naphthylenediamine. Examples are given of the dyeing of acetate silk as follows :-(1) A deep blue-black with the dyestuff aniline -> Cleve's acid # (acid) 1 : 5-aminonaphthol; (2) a deep violetblack with the dyestuff aniline -> 1-naphthylamine # (acid) 1 : 5-aminonaphthol; (3) a deep brownish black with the dyestuff aniline # ClÞve's acid # 1 : 5-naphthylenediamine; (4) a brownish black with the dyestuff aniline # 1- naphthylamine # 1 : 5-naphthylenediamine. A table is also given showing the shades obtainable on acetate silk with the following dyestuffs :-o- or p-toluidine, m-xylidine, or 5-chloro-2-toluidine # ClÞve's acid # (acid) 1 : 5-aminonaphthol; o-toluidine, m-xylidine, or p-chloraniline # Cleve's acid # 1 : 5-naphthylenediamine.
