Abstract
287,214. British Dyestuffs Corporation, Ltd., and Baddiley, J. Dec. 13, 1926. Substantive dyes, dyeing with ; disazo dyes. - Regenerated cellulose silk is dyed with secondary disazo dyes obtained bv coupling a diazotized nitroarylamine or a homologue or derivative thereof free from sulpho or carboxy groups with a middle component, rediazotizing, and coupling alkaline with a 1 : 8-aminonaphthol sulphonic acid or a N-substituted derivative thereof. The nitro group may or may not be reduced. The following dyestuffs are specified in examples :-pnitraniline # ClÞve's acid # 1 : 8-aminonaphthol-4-sulphonic acid, yielding a dull-blue shade: p-nitraniline # m-amino - P - cresol methyl ether # 1 : 8-aminonaphthol-3 : 6-disulphonic acid. and reduction of the nitro group yielding a' greenish-black shade. In the latter case the fastness to washing and to acids is increased by diazotization on the fibre and development with m-toluylenediamine. A table is given showing the shades obtainable from various components, and in which other first components specified are m-nitraniline, o-chloro-p-nitraniline, m-nitro-p-toluidine, and p-nitro-o-anisidine ; other middle components are p-xylidine, m-toluidine, and alpha-naphthylamine ; and other end components are 1-acetylamino-8-naphthol-3 : 6 - disulphonic acid, and 1 : 8-aminonaphthol-2 : 4-disulphonic acid.
