Abstract

287,010. British Dyestuffs Corporation, Ltd., Baddiley, J., Chorley, P., and Brightman, R. Sept. 8, 1926. Addition to 281,410. Disazo dyes. - The secondary disazo dyes made by coupling diazoazo compounds with N- substituted derivatives of 2-amino-8-naphthol sulphonic acids dye regenerated cellulose materials in level shades. In an example, viscose silk is dyed a blue-black shade with the dyestuff aminosalicylic acid (technical mixture->anaplithylamine->-8-oxy-2 : 2<1>- dinaphthylamine- 3 : 6-disulphonic acid. The shades obtained on viscose silk with the following dyestuffs are tabulated, the final coupling being in an alkaline medium except where otherwise stated :-mxylidine-5-sulphonic acid # m-amino-p-cresolmethyleter # 2 - phenylamino - 8 - naphthol-6- sulphonic acid or 8-oxy-2 : 2<1>-dinaphthylamine- 3: 6-disulphonic acid; aminosalicylic acid # alpha-naphthylamine # 2-phenylamino-8-naphthol- 6-sulphonic acid: aminoazobenzene # 2-phenylamino-8-naphthol-6-sulphonic acid; p-aminoazobenzene-p<1>-carboxylic acid # 2-phenylamino-8- naphthol-6-sulphonic acid; p-aminoazobenzenep<1>-sulphonic acid # 8-oxy-2 : 2<1>-dinaphthylamine-6-sulphonic acid (acid coupling), 2-oanisylamino-8-naphthol-6-sulphonic acid (acid coupling), or the 2 : 4-dinitrophenylamino, ethylamino, benzoylamino, acetylamino or naphthylglycine derivatives of 2: 8 : 6-acid ; 2-naphthylamine-4: 8-disulphonic acid # a-naphthylamine # 2-phenylamino-8-naphthol-6-sulphonic acid; and aniline # 1-naphthylamine-6-sulpbonic acid # 2-phenylamino-8-naphthol-6-sulphonic acid.
