Abstract
333,243. Imperial Chemical Industries, Ltd., and Brightman, R. Feb. 8, 1929. Azo dyes.-Regenerated cellulose materials are dyed in level violet to blue to bluish green shades by the application of secondary disazo dyes of the type having as first component a naphthylaminesulphonic acid or an aminonaphtholsulphonic acid other than 2 : 5 :-7-acid, as middle component a mono-amine of the benzene series coupling in pposition to the amino group, and as end component a 1 : 8-aminonaphtholmono- or di-sulphonic acid. In an example viscose silk is dyed greenish blue by means of the dyestuff 2 : 8-aminonaphthol- 3 : 6-disulphonic acid # 2 : 5-dimethoxyaniline # 1: 8-aminonaphthol-4-sulphonic acid in a bath containing Glauber's salt, soap, and soda ash with or without other salts or dyeing assistants such as borax. A table is also given showing the shades obtained on viscose silk by use of the following dyestuffs :-2 : 8 - aminonaphthol - 6 - sulphonic acid, 1-naphthylamine-4-sulphonic acid, or 1: 5-aminonaphthol-7-sulphonic acid, # cresidine # (alkaline) 1 : 8-aminonaphthol-2: 4-disulphonic acid; 2 : 8-aminonaphthol-3 : 6-disulphonic acid or 1 : 8-aminonaphthol-4-sulphonic acid # cresidine # (alkaline) 1:8- aminonaphthol-4-sulphonic acid; 2-naphthylamine-4-sulphonic acid # cresidine # (alkaline) 1 : 8- aminonaphthol-3 : 6-disulphonic acid; 2-naphthylamine - 6 - sulphonic acid # m - toluidine # (alkaline) 1 : 8-aminonaphthol-4-sulphonic acid; 1- naphthylamine 4 - sulphonic acid # aniline # (alkaline) 1 : 8-aminonaphthol-2 : 4-disulphonic acid; 2-naphthylamine-6-sulphonic acid # o-anisidine # (alkaline) 1 : 8-aminonaphthol-3: 6-disulphonic acid.
