Abstract

390,783. Yarn-winding machines particularly for weft cops. MASCHINENFABRIK SCHWEITER AKT.-GES., Horgen, near Zurich, Switzerland. Dec. 22, 1932, No. 36322. Convention date, Jan. 26. [Class 120 (ii).] In a yarn-winding machine and particularly in a machine for winding weft spools or cops an axially reciprocating guide bar 17, Fig. 1, formed with grooves, screw-threads or notches and over which the yarn runs is provided for each cop 4 in combination with two stops 27, 28 separate from the bar 17 and adjustable to vary the distance H in accordance with the throw of the traverse cam 13. The bars 17 are driven separately in connection with their respective bobbin gears or in groups or all together independently from the spindle drive. Each bobbin 4 is supported between pegs 5, 6 and driven through the friction wheel 9, while the guide bar 17 is reciprocated by the traverse cam 13. The stops 27, 28 are carried on a bridge 23 which also supports a guide eye 25 midway between the stops while a progression wheel 22 on a screw 19 serves to move the bridge 23 in accordance with the progress of the winding. The stops 27, 28 are curved relatively to the bar 17, Fig. 3. The yarn 29 passes from a guide roller 30 through the eye 25 and thence over the bar,17 to the bobbin 4, the yarn engaging in a groove of the bar 17 and reciprocating therewith over the range H between the stops 27, 28. The stops 27, 28 are moved to the left by the wheel 22 and shift the yarn from groove to groove in the bar 17 as the bobbin grows. When piecing or starting to wind the yarn is placed between the stops 27, 28 which automatically guide it into the correct groove.
