Abstract

389,182. Hollow-ware. SOUTH METROPOLITAN GAS CO. and CHANDLER, D., 709, Old Kent Road, London. Nov. 16, 1931, No. 31750. [Class 66.] A frying-pan or other utensil is adapted, when inserted in the heating chamber of a gaseous or liquid-fuel fired apparatus, to form with it a closed space, and is provided on the bottom with integral ribs which, together with the bottoms of the the pan and of the heating chamber, form passages which direct the products of combustion from the burners to the outlet flue. Fig. 1 shows a frying-range in which frying- pans 5 are supported in, and close the top of, heating-chambers 1 provided with burners 9 at one end and flue outlets 10 at the other. Integral ribs 6 on the bottom of the pan form straight passages by which the gases pass from the burners to the flue. As shown in Fig. 3, the passages may be further subdivided for part of their length by shorter ribs 7, 8. In one modification, the ribs are formed to provide channels having a lateral V-shaped offset for part of their length, and in a further modification the gases, after passing to the rear of the pan, are deflected by two curved ribs into side channels formed by straight ribs by which they pass again to the front, whence they return by further side channels to the rear.
