Abstract
389,180. Bearings. PEYINGHAUS, W., Egge, near Volmarstein, Ruhr, Germany. Nov. 13, 1931, No. 31489. Convention date, Oct. 9. [Class 12 (i).] An iron or steel bearing-shell a has a bronze lining b cast therein, longitudinal ribs i, d, and circumferential ribs c holding the shell and lining tightly together. The dovetail parts e of the ribs are rounded. In moulding, the heated shell a is coated with lead, tin, aluminium, or nickel and fitted with a core g. Molten bronze is poured through a gate f and passes through branch gates h at the bottom of the core to the steel or iron shell. The bronze rises rapidly in the space between the core and the shell and this action prevents oxides or bubbles forming on the adjacent faces of the lining and shell When worn the lining can be removed by heating and breaking it up.
