Abstract

388,940. Rolling flanged &c. bars. EVANS, W. E., 27, Chancery Lane, London. -(Demag Akt.-Ges.; 64, Werthauserstrasse, Duisburg, Germany.) March 23, 1932, No. 8572. [Class 83 (iv).] In a universal rolling-mill for producing profile, circular, &c. sections the rolls 3, 5, &c. are all in one plane and are each driven by a separate electric motor 9. Each roll is mounted in a separate casing 6, Fig. 2, pivoted at 7 on a slide 8 and adjustable for pass by hand screw on the framing. Gearing 10 couples each motor to its roll shaft or each roll may be directly coupled to the motor spindle. The rolls may be of different diameters the peripheral speed being adjusted by adjusting the speed of the independent motors.
