Abstract
388,311. Soldering-irons. SACHS, E., 10A, Manteuffelstrasse, Lichterfelde, Berlin. Aug. 9, 1932, No. 22317. [Class 83 (iv).] An electric soldering-iron of the kind in which the heating element is disposed in a metal tube which carries the bit at its free unconstricted end, has the bit secured to the tube by a releasable clamp. The tube 3, which has a sharpened and slotted end so as to prevent rotation of the tube after it is driven into the handle 1, and is provided with a constriction 10 to support the connector 12 and heating element 4, has an unconstricted end to. which the stem 6 of the bit, which passes through the heating element, is secured. The bit may be secured in the tube by a split or divided collar 7 inserted in the tube and clamped to the tube and the bit by means of a screw 9. The collar and bit may be secured in the tube by an external screw-operated clamping band, Fig. 4, the tube being preferably slotted. The upper part of the stem may be equal in diameter to the bore of the tube in which case the bit may be secured by the clamping band without the use of a collar.
