Abstract
387,354. Inflating-valves. BEASLEY VALVES, Ltd., 53, New Broad Street, and BEASLEY, T., 33, Narbonne Avenue, Clapham Common, both in London. May 4, 1931, No. 13147. [Class 135.] An attachment adapted to be screwed into the body 1 of an ordinary inflating-valve comprises a rod 9 with a conical end 10 and a threaded enlargement 12, this enlargement having transverse and longitudinal bores 14, 15 and a disc or like valve 17 formed on a spindle 18 which is guided in a sleeve 16. So that air may escape from the transverse bore 14, flats 13 are provided at its ends. The attachment screws into the body 1 at 5 and its coned end 10 seats on an internal shoulder 8. The enlargement 12 has a flange 20 which may be provided with means such as a screwdriver slot or flats or projections for screwing and unscrewing the fitment. A cap 23 having a washer 25 screws on the reduced end of the body 1 and has at its outer end a recess 24 which, when the cap is removed, is adapted to co-operate with flats on the flange 20. The body 1 has a dust cover 26. Before inflation, the end 10 is raised from its seating and during inflation, the valve 17 acts as a non-return valve. The end 10 is then screwed down on to its seating 8 and further sealing is provided by the valve 17 and the cap 23. The entire construction may be made of ebonite.
