Abstract

157,221. Smith, O. A. April 3, 1919, [Convention date]. Piston valves.-A drain cock for a radiator or carburettor of a motor-vehicle comprises a body portion 2, Fig. 3, bored internally at 3 and screwthreaded at 4 for the reception of the valve spindle 5. The valve head 9 is made with a conical seating which engages with a corresponding seating on the member 2, or the latter seating may be square-edged. The opening 11 in the valve member communicates with an axial discharge passage. An operating handle 12 is provided on the lower end of the valve spindle. In an alternative form, Fig. 5, the valve is not screw-operated, but is provided with a return spring 4'.
