[Classes 65 (i) and 65 (ii).] Pivoting - adjustements.-In retaining devices for pivoted mirrors 17 and other panels hinged to a fixed structure such as a dressing table 13, a member 12 secured to the fixed structure comprises an attachment portion 14 and a projecting stem 15 having its longitudinal axis substantially parallel to the plane of the attachment portion. The member 12 is connected to the mirror by links 22, 24 disposed for movement in a plane parallel to the axis of the stem 15 and at right-angles to the plane of the portion 14. One link 22 is pivoted to the stem and the other is connected to the mirror in a readily detachable manner. The link 22 may comprise two bars connected to the link 24 by a friction pivot 25. Pivotal movement is limited by engagement of the end of the link 22 or of an extension thereof with a portion 36 of the stem 15. The link 24 may be pivoted in lugs 27 of a sheet-metal member 26 formed with projections 29 adapted to engage slots 30 in a box member 18 secured to the mirror 17 The projections 29 may be retained in the slots by pivoted catches 31. In another form the link 24 is pivoted to a socket member adapted to receive a lug fixed to the mirror. Or the link 24 may be pivoted to a plate having a central slot or slots adapted to engage one or more turn buttons on a bridge-piece secured to the mirror, projecting lugs on the plate engaging slots in the bridge-piece. Both links may be single bars with their inner ends offset and disposed one on each side of a friction pivot. The latter may comprise a housing containing one or more friction washers. One link may be riveted to the housing and the other secured to a series of friction washers rotatable within the housing by a U-shaped pin passed through aligned holes in the washers and the link. The washers embrace a further washer rigidly secured in the housing. The member 12 is formed from a sheet-metal blank bent into U-section to form a channelled stem 15 which may be relatively longer than that shown in Fig. 1.
