Abstract

386,509. Handlebars &c. MOORE, F. E. and MOORE, E. H., 816, Pershore Road, Selly Park, Birmingham. May 5, 1932, No. 12977. [Class 136 (iii).] In an adjustable connection for handle-bars &c. held in a split jaw or clip on the stem &c., the handle-bar &c. tube is formed in two parts adapted to be joined by a liner, and the joint when the parts are assembled is located within the jaw or clip and is locked by the contraction thereof. In the form shown in the Figure, a sleeve d is clipped on the inner end of each half of the handle-bar, and a liner e is brazed into the end of one sleeve and is adapted to fit tightly into the end of the other sleeve, the abutting ends of the sleeves being clamped in the split clip b on the handle-bar stem c. The end of the sleeve into which the liner pushes may be slit longitudinally. In modifications, a liner entering the ends of the two parts is either brazed &c. in one part and has a bayonetcatch connection with the other, or has a bayonet-catch connection with both parts.
