Abstract

386,426. Couplings. McCARTHY, H. R. C., 37, Richmond Park Road, East Sheen, London. Dec. 21, 1931, No. 35248. [Class 38 (i).] A circuit - breaking device or switch is adapted to be clamped to a terminal of a motor-car accumulator and is connected to the usual lead. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, two metal parts 1, 2, are connected to one another by an insulating member 3, part 1 being tapered and fitted with a clamping bolt 7, so that it can be secured to the ordinary accumulator terminal, while the other part 2 is formed with a tapered pin 8 to which the usual terminal on the end of the lead may be clamped. The two parts 1, 2 are electrically connected, when required, by a metal plug 11 fitting in an aperture 10, formed conjointly in the two parts. In a modification shown in Fig. 2, the two parts 1, 2 are connected by a knife switch 13, hinged to the part 2.
