Abstract
385,797. Rotary engines. SAUVEUR, H., 1D, B÷dekerstrasse, Hanover, Germany. March 17, 1932, No. 7997. Convention date, March 28, 1931. [Class 110 (ii).] In a rotary engine having a piston or disc 2 with radial projections 10 gyrating in a casing 5 between closely fitting side walls 6, 7, the projections 10 control inlet and outlet apertures 16, 17 respectively for the working fluid for about half a revolution of the shaft which drives the piston, some simultaneously and the remainder at different times. The projections 10 are shaped to bear closely against the sides of recesses in the casing 5 to prevent the passage of fluid from one side to the other. If desired, two or more pistons or discs 2 may be mounted on the same driving shaft, working in series or in parallel and with a single driving eccentric or with separate eccentrics mutually displaced. The axial pressure due to difference in pressure at inlet 23 and outlet 27 may be balanced by connecting in parallel two pistons or discs, or in the case of multi-stage machines, by grouping the stages in parallel or in series. Two pistons or discs may be arranged so as to be run in parallel or in series as desired.
