Abstract
Rails, tyres, sheets, structural members, and other articles made from high-phosphorus carbon steel which may contain also other metals such as copper, nickel, and aluminium, are rapidly cooled from over 650 DEG C. after casting or after an intermediate heat treatment, or after the hot shaping. The cooling may be effected by means of air or water under pressure, or by quenching outright in water or oil.
