Modifying physical characteristics of metals.- Iron articles plated with aluminium such as plates, bands, wire &c. are softened, to enable them to be rolled to the thinnest sections. by heating them in an airtight container in a muffle furnace to a temperature above the melting point of aluminium, viz., 700-750‹ C. and then cooling very slowly.
