Abstract

384,981. Refrigerating. AMUNDSEN, I., 56, Bygdo Alle, Oslo, Norway. March 9, 1931, No. 7302. Convention date, March 10, 1930. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 29.] Absorption machines and systems.-In an adsorption machine of the reversing kind, the heat of the generator-adsorber 1 is transmitted, during the adsorption phase, to an air-cooled vessel 7 having a large heat-radiating surface and containing water in which the condenser is immersed by the automatic flooding with water of the space 10 between the end walls of the generator-adsorber and the vessel. The space 10 is connected at its lower end to a water tank 12 and at its upper end to an air or gas vessel 14 which, during generation, is heated by the thermostatically controlled gas burner 2 or the electric heater of the generator-adsorber, the consequent expansion of the air forcing the water out of the space 10 into the tank 12. During adsorption, the air in the vessel cools and the water rises into the space 10. In a modification, rotatable heat-conducting dampers 16, Fig. 2, are arranged between the vessel 7 and the generator-adsorber. In another arrangement, the generator-adsorber is hingedly connected to the vessel 7 and adjusted relatively thereto by a thermostat subject to the heat of the gas burner.
