Abstract

384,850. Scythes. KESSLER, H., Rõterschen, Switzerland. Feb. 24, 1932, No. 5480. [Class 6 (iii).] To permit universal adjustment of the blade relatively to the handle the two are secured together by a ball joint 1. The cup member 2 which is carried by a shank 5 secured to the handle 4 by bolts 6 is provided with a central opening through which the screwed end 8 of a bolt carrying the ball member 3 and secured to the blade by a stud 12 and nut 18, passes. The end 8 of the bolt has a left-hand screw thread. The bolt is provided with a washer 10 shaped to fit the back of the member 2 and a clamping nut 11. In a modification the ball member is integral with the blade.
