Abstract
383,435. Valve gear. ARMSTRONG SIDDELEY MOTORS, Ltd. and VIALE, S. M., of Armstrong Siddeley Works, Park Side, Coventry. Nov. 27, 1931, No. 32907. [Class 7 (vi).] The cam shafts of a radialcylinder engine are driven by toothed wheels carried non- rotatably by an eccentric strap on the crankshaft. An eccentric 5 on the crank shaft is surrounded by a strap 6 formed with radial extensions reaching to the positions of the cam shafts, where they are fitted with pinions 9 engaging internal gears 12 on the cam shafts. The pinions 9 are adjustably fixed in the strap extensions by nuts 11, and a Z-crank 14 is mounted between each pair of gear wheels for strengthening purposes. The strap member may serve as a crank-shaft balance weight.
