Abstract
383,100. Microscopes. ZEISS, C. [Firm of], Carl-Zeiss-Strasse, Jena, Germany. Dec. 31, 1931, No. 36049. Convention date, Jan. 5. [Class 97 (i).] An illumination device for microscopes having a displaceable stage above the objective, consists of a condenser system surrounding the objective and mounted independently of the microscope tube in that part of the stage which does not partake of the displacements of the object. The stage rests on a support 1 fixed to the microscope stand and comprises a plate 2 rotatably mounted on the support and bearing a carrier 3 for the condenser 14. The plate 2 is provided with a guide 4 in which slides 5, 6 can be moved by a screw 10, these slides in turn acting as guides for slidable members 7, 8 on the plate 9 by which the object carrier 12 is supported. The plate 9 can be displaced along the guides 5, 6 by a screw (not shown) at right-angles to the screw 10. The condenser comprises a glass block 15 having a paraboloidal reflecting surface 16 and receiving light from an inclined annular mirror 20 within the microscope tube 18.
