[Class 55 (ii).] In apparatus for separating dust from gases by impact on a liquid surface comprising several alternating inlet and outlet passages a, b, the outlet passages b are of larger cross section than the inlet passages a and the open lower ends of these .passages are located above the liquid surface with a small gap approximating to the width of the inlet passages, e.g. 2 cms. The gases are admitted from a conduit forming a dome over the juxtaposed inlet and outlet passages a, b, the outlet passages being open at one or both ends and the bottom, and closed at the top to form ridges c directing the gas into the inlet passages, which are open at the top and bottom and closed at both ends.
