Abstract

251,682. Bailey, R. W., and Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd. Feb. 2, 1925. Separators.-In apparatus for separating suspended matter from gases of the kind consisting of a series of ducts each containing a collecting surface in association with a deflecting or guiding surface, the collector 3 is made so that it can be withdrawn from the members 2 carrying the guiding surfaces 4, for renewal or cleaning. The channels 1 preferably decrease in crosssection in the direction of the flow. A spring closure 20 may be provided for stopping a channel after withdrawal of the collector. The collecting surface may consist of a fibrous material attached to a metal plate, or a metal or wire fabric coated with liquid such as oil, to which the dust &c. adheres. The wire fabric 19 may be located between metal sheets 16 from which are stamped up tongues 18 forming additional collecting surfaces. A number of channels 1 may be arranged in parallel or in series.
