Abstract
382,598. Roller bearings. SKERRETT, H. N., 24, Temple Row, Birmingham.- (Timken Roller Bearing Co. ; Denver Avenue, Canton, Ohio, U.S.A.) July 16, 1932, No. 20173. [Class 12 (i).] A conical roller bearing which is easily assembled has a one-piece inner ring 1 formed with a pair of conical race tracks 2, 2a, and thrust ribs 4. The outer race tracks are formed on separate undivided rings 11, 11a, separated by a ring 12 which may have a flange 17 engaging a groove 16 on one of the rings 11, 11a. The conical rollers 3, 3a are mounted on pins 6, 6a, the ends of which are screwed to inner rings 8, 8a and riveted to outer rings 10, 10a. The inner rings 8, 8a, and the spacing ring 12 are axially divided, the halves of the rings 8, 8a being secured together by rivets passing through plates 9 and the halves of the ring 12 being bolted together by bolts 13, these connections being made during the assembly of the bearing. Holes 18 for lubricant are formed in the rings 1, 12.
