Abstract

382,448. Shackles. JENNINGS, H. W. K., 51, Chancery Lane, London.- (Martin, C. E.) Dec. 2, 1931, No. 33414. [Class 24.] The shackle pin 4 is locked in position by a resilient clip 9 which is shaped to lie along one limb of the shackle 1 and to have spring engagement with the bow. In the construction shown, the pin has a reduced part 5 and diametrically opposite lugs 6, 7 adapted to engage, by longitudinal and turning movements, with a slotted collar 10 in one eye of the shackle. The other end of the pin has a conical head 8 to engage the countersunk eye in the other limb of the shackle, and the clip is securely riveted to the pin to act as a handle. In a modified form, the pin is of uniform diameter with one or more radial lugs at the end. The eyes are both slotted correspondingly and the side of the outer eye is countersunk to accommodate the lugs.
