Abstract
389,373. Whipple-trees. SCHNEIDER, A. and SCHAUER, K., Thum, Saxony, Germany. Aug. 10, 1932, No. 22367. [Class 108 (ii).] In a coupling device of the kind comprising two links 1, Fig. 1, having a narrow slit 2 or one such link and a closed link 8, Fig. 2, having a narrow neck 9, the coupling members are made with a re-entrant part in the neighbourhood of the slit or neck. A modification is shown in Fig. 5, in which a closed member 17 is formed with a narrow neck 18 and tie-members 19, 20 which may be fixed or swivelling and have similar neck portions 18<1>. The other member of the coupling is a ring 13 with an opening 14 which may be closed by a sleeve 22. The abutting ends of the opening and the sides of the narrow neck portions may be made of complementary shapes. The invention is described as applied to animal chains, horsecollars, and bridles, Figs. 3, 7, 8, and 10 (not shown), and to swingle-trees, Fig. 4 (not shown).
