Abstract
382,109. Boiler cleaners. F A I R - W E A T H E R, H. G. C., 65, Chancery Lane, London.-( Whittemore, Hulbert, Whittemore, & Belknap ; 112, Penobecot Building, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A.) Dec. 3, 1931, No. 33561. [Class 99 (ii).] In a boiler cleaner wherein cleaning fluid such as air or steam is supplied from a pipe 38 to a rotatable tube 2 from which it is discharged in jets through nozzles 8, a second cleaning fluid, e.g. water, is supplied from a pipe 26 to the blower tube 2 through a valve 22 and a tube 20, the latter being disposed centrally within the blower tube and provided with nozzles 21. The usual valve 16 in the steam pipe 38 is actuated by a trigger 14 from a cam 12 mounted on the blower tube, and the trigger also actuates the valve 22 through a bellcrank lever 40 connected to the stem 23 of said valve. The seat 24 of the valve 22 is provided with a port 31 which is normally open, but may be closed by a hand valve 30, to allow water to pass to the blower tube and cool same when it is not in operation; this valve 30 may however be fitted in a byepass around the body of the valve 22 and be controlled by a thermostat located in the uptake of the boiler furnace so that it is automatically closed when the boiler is not in operation. The tube 20 may be secured to the blower tube so as to rotate therewith.
