Abstract
361,861. Boiler cleaners. PARRY, C. P.; 106, Bridge Street, Birkenhead. Aug. 20, 1930, No. 24873. [Class 99 (ii).] In boiler cleaner of the kind comprising a rotatable blower tube B having nozzles bl to which pressure steam is supplied through a valve C, cooling water is adapted to be supplied to the blower tube, when the latter is not in operation, through a valve which is normally closed but which opens automatically when the steam supply is cut off. The cooling water is supplied from a constant-head tank through a pipe d<1> to a wall box D from whence it passes to the interior of the blower tube through a pipe E. The end of the pipe E is fitted with a valve box g<1> housing a ball valve G, Fig. 6, which is pressed upon a seating g<2> by the pressure of the cleaning steam ; when the supply of steam is cut off however the valve falls away from the seating to permit a flow of cooling water to circulate along the bottom of the nozzle pipe and through outlets d<12> in a plug d<7>, which closes the end of the blower tube and is rotatably mounted in the wall box D, to a drain d<2>. The head at which the cooling water is supplied and the area of the outlets d<12> are soarranged that no water will overflow through the blower nozzles.
