Abstract
219,592. Smith, H. P., (Diamond Power Specialty Corporation). Jan. 11, 1924. Cleaning, fluid pressure processes for. - In a rotary blower unit with valve control for cleaning boilers the valve is directly operated for opening and closing from the same spindle which rotates the jet tube. The valve D controlling the supply of steam to the jet tube is opened by the first part of the rotation of the worm shaft F, the worm. wheel G<1> on the jet tube being held stationary by a locking-lever H<2> and acting as a nut for the worm G. simultaneously with the contacting of the shoulder F<1> on the worm with the casing F<2>, the locking-lever is released and the jet tube is rotated, no further opening of the valve taking place. On reversing the rotation, the jet tube is first rotated back to its normal position, the shaft F being prevented from axial movement by the locking-lever engaging the surface of the worm wheel G<1>. In a modification, Figs. 3 and 4, the valve K is opened by the first part of the rotation of the wheel L. which acts as a nut to the screwed valve shaft K<1> which is prevented from rotation by a spring pawl M<2> engaging a slot M in the shaft. An incline N at the end of this slot releases the pawl so that the shaft is rotated and rotates the jet tube through sliding dogs S, the hand wheel and shaft being locked by dogs O. On reversing the rotation of the hand-wheel, another pawl M<1> prevents rotation of the shaft which then is slid axially to close the valve. An adjustable sleeve-valve J<3> also aids in controlling the entry of steam to the valve casing.
