Abstract

382,061. Spouts. HEPBURN, R. H., 51, Sherbourne Road, Balsall Heath, Birmingham. Oct. 22, 1931, No. 29306. [Class 66.] Spouts for kettles, teapots, cans, &c. consist of a tubular sheet metal outer part 2 formed with an external flange or beading 7 near the inner end which is passed up to the flange through an opening in the flanged-over end 6 of a hollow boss 3 attached to the wall of the vessel and closed thereunder. The boss may be fitted in a similar manner in an opening in the wall of the vessel and the inner end may be reinforced by a sleeve 12, Fig. 5, or the boss may be formed with a flange 4 and soldered over the opening as shown in Fig. 2. A strainer with a perforated end projecting into the vessel may be fitted within the boss.
