Abstract
181,628. Rycroft, N., Corner, J. A., and Meats, T. W. July 25, 1921. Funncls.-A funnel for use in pouring liquids comprises a spout and integral conical portion made, as by spinning or pressing, from a single sheet of metal with a stiffening liner embodied in the spout. The funnel is formed from a single sheet of aluminium &c. with a cylindrical portion A, Fig. 1, enclosing a brass or other liner B. At the upper end of the portion A the body commences to flare outwardly at C, and slightly above this point a circumferential groove D is formed in which is inserted a gauze disc E carried by a circular brass frame F. The upper end H of the conical portion G is flanged over inwardly and the lower end A<2> of the portion A is turned over the lower end of the sleeve or liner B, the exterior surface of which may be roughened or corrugated to ensure firm engagement with the portion A. In a modification, Fig. 2, the filter gauze E is detachable, being held in a short cylindrical portion K of the conical part G by an expanding spring ring or band L.
