Abstract

295,184. Marshall, R. Jan. 20, 1928. Cans; spouts; signals; strainers.-The spout of a can for filling lamps, stoves, &c. is provided with an air duct a, a<1> of crescent shape in section and formed by a metal plate soldered to the outside of the spout c, c<1>. The duct terminates within the can in a small hole a' and a dent b is pressed in the metal plate near the inner end. The effect of the duct is to cause the entering air to make a continuous gurgling noise which ceases when the outer end becomes covered by the liquid rising in the receiving vessel. A filling tube d provided with an air-tight stopper e and a gauze strainer f is provided near one side of the can, and a handle g is provided on the top portion.
