Abstract

381,626. Motor vehicles. HAGENBURG, O. H. G., 34, Elisabethenstrasse, and HOFFMANN, G., 42, Viktoriastrasse, both in Darmstadt, Germany. July 18, 1931, No. 20613. Addition to 381,624. [Classes 79 (iv) and 79 (v).] The radius-rod framework described in the parent Specification is so arranged that the pivot of the radius rod on the chassis frame and the virtual pivot on the frame about which the drag-link oscillates are not closely adjacent but lie in a horizontal line perpendicular to the drag-link when the steering wheels are in the straight-ahead position. In the construction shown the drag-link f is parallel to the axle a, the virtual pivot of the link being at g, and the radius rod d is pivoted to the frame at h, the line joining the pivots g, h being perpendicular to the drag-link. The radius rod is so shaped as to clear the engine sump n, and one arm is provided near its neutral axis with holes p through which the drag-link f and track rod m can pass freely. The suspension springs bare connected by slides or shackles c at both ends to the frame. Modifications are described in which (1) the drag-link is arranged longitudinally of the vehicle and the radius rod is symmetrical in plan and pivoted on the central longitudinal axis of the vehicle, the line joining the pivots g, h being parallel to the axle, and (2) the drag-link is arranged diagonally of the vehicle, the line joining the pivots g, h being still perpendicular to the drag-link.
