Abstract
381,567. Meat safes. BAKER, J. E., 75¢, New Summer Street, Birmingham. July 1, 1931, No. 18937. [Class 28 (ii).] In a demountable meat safe of the type in which the parts are fixed together by screws or other fastenings passed through the top and bottom, the sides, front and back each comprise a frame having rectangular section tubular side members and corner tubes are used to join the back to the side frames. Each side consists of a tubular frame 7 made from strip metal soldered at the overlapping edges as at 7a, to which is secured a sheet of metal, glass, wire gauze or perforated metal. Rear corner posts 10 are provided at each end with screw-threaded plugs 11 to receive screws 12 which pass through holes 18 in the top and bottom and also through perforated lugs 8 secured to the horizontal side frame members 7. The vertical back frame members 7b are soldered to the corner posts 10 and the corners of the frame are reinforced by a strip 13. A door comprising a panelled inner frame 6 is hinged at 15 to front corner posts 14 which are joined by horizontal members 14a and soldered to the vertical side frame members. The top and bottom members 4, 5 consist of sheet metal panels having flanged sides 19 which fit over the side frames. A detachable shelf may be supported by horizontal members 20 fixed to the vertical side frame members.
