Abstract

299,132. Henley's Telegraph Works Co., Ltd., W. T., and Nichols, W. H. Aug. 20, 1927. Cabinets. - A cabinet for housing electrical instruments has a separate top and bottom connected at intervals around the periphery of the cabinet by bolts extending through tubular spacers b, c, Fig. 1, which are provided with wings constituting the sides or against which the sides may abut. The tubular spacers may be entirely separate with the sides secured to them or may be integral with the sides, various arrangements being shown. The base frame is formed of front and back members 18, interfitting by projections with recesses in side members 19 which are provided with foundation frames 20 secured together by bolts 21 and tubular spacers 22. The recessed portions of the bottom frame members adapted to receive the edges of the side plates have the portions 27 joggled out of the plane of the side plates so as to provide ventilation spaces 28 and corresponding ventilation spaces are provided at the top of the cabinet. The back panel and door are strengthened by external and internal ribs 17 and 16 respectively. The top of the cabinet is formed of a steel pressing 30 and cast iron end members 46 provided with corner pieces 31 for the passage of the tie bolts 32 which are screwed into the base frames and are provided with nuts 34 at their upper ends to make watertight connection with the top of the cabinet. The sides and back of the cabinet which may be of sheet metal, wood or other suitable material extend upwardly at 35 and 36 above the lower end of the top sections. For the support of electrical instruments upper and lower supporting straps 38, 40 are provided, and where necessary, an earthing connection 42 is provided on the bottom frame member. One of the tubular spacers is cut away at the front to afford spaces for the reception of hinge members 43. Locking bolts 44 and a catch 45 operated by cam or the like are provided for the door.
