[Class 38 (v).] In order to adapt the minimum number of parts to suit all the dimensions of, for example, switchgear, a housing is made up of a particular size of a range of end castings or pressings, and sides and corner pieces are cut to the requisite height from sheet metal. The corner pieces are rigidly secured to the end castings, as by welding, and beadings are provided longitudinally in the corner pieces against which abut the edges of the wall members. Fig. 2 shows a floor-fixing type having end-castings 1, 2, sheet metal corner-pieces 3 with beadings 6 and sheet metal walls 4 bolted to the pieces 3. One of the latter is hinged at 8, 9, 10 to a corner piece to serve as a door with locking members 11, 12, but a door can be dispensed with if all walls are made detachable. For a wall-fixing housing, the end castings 1, 2 will be of the same shape and carry fixing lugs. The switch panel will be mounted on two bars extending between the end members, and a further corner piece may be placed over each member 3 to secure dust and watertightness.
