Abstract
381,007. Pipe joints. CRANE PACKING, Ltd., Slough, and WILKINSON, F. C. W., The Elms, Stomp Road, Burnham, both in Buckinghamshire. Dec. 1, 1931, No. 33309. [Class 99 (i).] In a condenser or other heat exchanger, an end of each tube is secured in a tube-plate 3 by interfitting tapered rings 4, 5 having their tapered surfaces extending substantially over the whole of their width. The inner ring is of softer materia than the outer ring. The rings may be tapered in the opposite direction to that shown. The rings are compressed by a ferrule 6 which may be integral with the outer ring. A seating ring of soft metal or fibre is provided.
