Abstract
380,608. Cylinders. JACKSON, E. W., 139, Brigstock Road, Thornton Heath, Surrey. Sept. 26, 1931, No. 26897. [Class 7 (ii).] A renewable valve seating-ring 16 is screwed into a recess in the cylinder, a taper thread 14 being provided so that both flanks of the threads are in contact, and conduction of heat from the ring 16 thus facilitated. The ring is formed with pin-key holes 12 in an extension which is cut off after insertion when the seating 20 is formed ; the ring may then be locked by a pin 22 or a ball which is afterwards riveted over. The taper is arranged so that a space 18 is left which allows the ring to spring, the life of the seat being thus lengthened.
