Abstract

214,412. Bentley Motors, Ltd., and Hewitt, H. S. March 19, 1923. Cams and tappets.- In tappet mechanism for internal-combustion engines, the valve rocker is fitted with a shoe or the like arranged to rock about a pivot parallel to that of the rocker, the shoe being formed with a flat face engaging the flat face of the tappet. The shoe may comprise a spherical or cylindrical member E flattened at E<2>, or a stirrup G, Fig. 5. The spherical member E is held by an adjustable plug C<2> made hollow to collect lubricant and feed it to the shoe through a hole C<3>. According to the Provisional Specification, the shoe may be provided on the end of the tappet or valve rod.
