Abstract
A composition having the properties of an aqueous bituminous emulsion is prepared by grinding, with water, bitumen mixed with two-thirds to four times its weight of sand or limestone, or asphaltic rock of the same bitumen content, adding with agitation 20 per cent of an aqueous flux-oil emulsion, and boiling the mixture for a short time. The flux-oil emulsion may be prepared by agitating a viscous asphaltic oil distillation residue with 0,8 per cent of soft soap in 1 per cent solution.
