Abstract

A road material comprises unwashed and undried broken stone which is treated first with creosote oil and then with bituminous composition at a temperature between 300-350 DEG F. 1 ton of broken stone is treated with 1/2 to 3/4 gallon of creosote oil and 6 to 7 1/2 gallons of bituminous material, the later material being added to the stone in a mechanical mixer. The Specification also describes the treatment of stone dust with creosote oil and bituminous substances for application as a finishing layer to a road constructed with the material specified above. Specification 330,072, [Class 22, Cements &c.], is referred to.
