Abstract

To a hydraulic binding medium, such as cement, with additions such as lime, sand &c., less than 6 per cent of bituminous material, reckoned on the weight of the hydraulic binding medium, is added, so as to result in a still pulverulent mixture. The bitumen may be admixed with any aggregate such as stone dust, sand, quartz powder or calcium carbonate, which is to be used with the binding medium. As an example, to 12 parts of hydraulic lime powder heated to 140 DEG C., 3 parts of bitumen is added and ground with it, 35 parts hydraulic lime powder and 50 parts Portland cement is then mixed in. The mixture may also be effected by atomizing the bitumen and introducing the binding medium in dispersed condition. In a further example, 100 parts of quartz powder is mixed with 10 parts of bitumen, the mixture being then admixed with 300 parts of cement and 900 parts of water to form a slurry.
