Abstract

Hydraulic cementitious material (Portland cement, lime, &c.) for use as a basis of mortar or concrete, is modified by the addition of 3-6 per cent of bitumen, by weight of the cementitious material. In an example, 12 parts of hydraulic lime powder heated to 140 DEG C. are mixed with 3 parts of bitumen also heated to 140 DEG C. and the mass is ground to powder; to this powder are added 35 parts of hydraulic lime powder and 50 parts of Portland cement, the whole being thoroughly mixed. Specifications 123,695, [Class 22, Cements &c.], and 378,107 are referred to.
