523,458. Bituminous compositions. OBERBACH, J. Dec. 30, 1938, No. 37824. Convention date, Sept. 14. [Class 22] A material for use as a road foundation consists of a bituminous concrete in which the mineral aggregate includes stone dust and the binder is either coal tar pitch or a mixture of coal tar pitch with oil or tar, and has a softening point of about 45‹-55‹C. Kramer-Sarnow. The mineral aggregate may be first treated with oil or then tar and mixed with molten pitch, a quantity of pulverized harder pitch being then added and the whole mixed at 80‹-150‹C., so that the pitch and oil or tar combine to form a binder having a softening point 45‹-55‹C. In an example 85 parts by weight of 0/5 m.m. sand and 7 parts'of powdered limestone are mixed with 8 parts of coalt tar pitch having a softening point of 48‹C. K-S.
