Abstract

A bituminous slurry, which hardens quickly, for surfacing roads is produced by mixing fine grained mineral material, e.g. sand, and water to a pasty consistency, and then successively adding road tar as a warm liquid, cold water, and chloride of lime. 0.5-2.0% of chloride of lime may be used. The chloride of lime may be mixed into the slurry for 30 seconds.
