Abstract
379,712. Lubricating rotary compressors. OGILVIE, H., 5, Charlwood Place, London. March 4, 1931, No. 6750. [Classes 12 (ii) and 12 (iii).] In a rotary compressor having sliding vanes 5, lubrication of the moving parts is secured by the spraying of oil through a series of holes 13 in the working chamber and walls. The holes contain plugs with spiralshaped grooves to atomize the oil jets, and the plugs may be inclined at various angles to distribute the oil in the working chambers. The oil chambers, at each end of-the compressor, communicate with each other through holes in the rotor which connect with slots 10 for the vanes. Strainers are fitted before each series of holes 13. Gas or air enters the compressor through a port 2 and is delivered through a port 3. The oil is separated from the compressed gas and returned to the compressor after being cooled.
