Abstract

379,135. Antidazzle devices for vehicles; vehicle ventilators. BISHOP, W. H., 48, Moor Street, Birmingham. Oct. 16, 1931, No. 28752. [Class 103 (ii).] In road vehicles a shell or cover for an opening in the curved edge of the roof conforming when closed to the normal contour of the roof edge and capable of being moved to uncover the opening serves as a sun visor and ventilator when situated at the front above the windscreen and as a ventilator only when situated at a part other than the front. In one form the cover a is carried by two pairs of links c, e and as shown in Fig. 3 the rear end may be raised to serve as a ventilator or the whole cover a may be swung forwardly to act as a sun visor and. as a ventilator as shown in Fig. 1. The roof may have a fixed or a sliding panel and means may be provided for rendering weathertight the junction between the roof and the rear end of the cover. In the case of ventilators only the cover may be arranged to slide or be moved either vertically or horizontally to uncover the opening as shown in Figs. 12 and 15, or the cover may be hinged at its front end. A control device, Fig. 9, may be provided. An arm. o pivoted at p to the cover in alignment with the pivots of links e is pivoted at n to a split bracket l by means of which it may be locked, a rod q is provided for manipulating purposes.
